Hi,

I posted a few months ago regarding getting my thai girlfriend an Australian Tourist visa. I have since visited her again, and we plan to go ahead with the application. I fly to Bkk on Tue to help sort it out.

Could someone please give me advice on what to write in the letter of invitation and Statuary declaration. I really have no idea how these should be worded, or what details to include for best chance of acceptance.

Many thanks.

You don't need a stat dec....(see G-burns previous posts 8 or so months ago) -

The letter of invitation should include - how you met, what you will pay for her (financial stuff), what you plan to do together, the purpose of her visit, where you plan to stay, and why she should return (very important - she needs a reason to return to thailand, such as work, study etc)....

Tourist visa is pretty easy to get. What I had in our first one -

App form

letter of invitation

photos together to show we;ve known more than six months

emails

letters

photcopies of my passport showing i been there a few times

letter from her employer/university saying they will hold her position until she arrives back in thailand.

just the basic stuff like that

shouldn't be too hard to get if its genuine....but don't do it half-assed. The impression i get, is that if it gets rejected the first time it makes it harder in the future.

Good luck.

Hi there,

I also would like to bring my thai girlfriend here on a tourist visa.

I met her in may and we stayed together for 2 weeks then and i returned and stayed with her for the whole month of august.

I have been to her parents home in Korat and have photos of us together with the family and other photos of us there in bangkok, pattaya and phuket.

When i was there in august i had with me the letter of invitation on the STAT DEC stamped and witnessed by a JP here in AUST.

I stated that i am inviting her here to holiday with me and that i will be providing her return airfare and travel insurance and also would be supporting her here as far as accommdation and dietry needs.

I also stated in the STAT DEC that I would be introducing her to my family and friends and showing her the australian way of life here and helping her to improve her english skills.

Other information i had with me on my recent visist to her in August were

a copy of my passport,

payslips,

my bank account details to show i had sufficient funds to support her and the 48R application form.

I also had copies of our communication from SMS messages,

a couple of emails and

western union transfer reciepts.

I am hoping that is about all the info i will need for her to get a 3 month tourist visa.

She does not have a great deal of money in the bank and only works part time.

I plan to go back in a couple of months with a more recent STAT DEC with added info about my last visit and try then as we did not apply this time in august.

We have talked about mariage but at this stage i just want her here on a tourist visa to see how she likes it here and she agreed with that for now.

I am also open to any comments about this subject as well......

Thanks

Whether you use the letter of invitation or a stat dec is upto you, I still think that a stat dec gives an advantage.

you should include in both....

How long you have known her, in what areas you intend to support her (medical, living costs, transport etc..) reason for the visa, where she will be accomodated and anything else you think is important.

Hi,

Should a "Letter of Invitation" have the signature witnessed by a JP? Also, should each of the documents like the copy of a bank statement be certified by a JP too?

By the way, this is for my wifes' sister to vist Australia on a Tourist visa (subclass 676). I had a look at the Sponsored Family Visitor visa (subclass 679) which is lodged in Australia but it looks like more work! Besides, she is only coming for 3 weeks. I see that sponsor one is for a stay upto 12 months.

Thanks.

One other question about writing a "Letter of Invitation".

There is a problem with my wife and her sister proving that they are sisters.

My wife has no evidence because when she was born, her Auntie and Uncle were written as her parents, they have since both died. My wife has lost her birth certificate and has no Thai ID card (been in Oz for 17 years). Have been trying to get her an ID for a while now, at least the ID number is in her old Thai passort!

Anyway, I am thinking to write on the "Letter of Invitation" that they have been friends for many years instead. That way we don't have to prove them being sisters at all. We can show photo's of them if they request them.

Any comments on doing this please. I'll write that we will pay for everything in the letter - so would the sister get a Tourist visa easily?

Cheers YBB

No JP signature is requird for an LOI.......if you do that you may as well do a Stat Dec.

YBB...

The 676 visa is for the purpose of tourism and visiting family and/or friends.

When you do the application, make sure that you state that you are inviting them under that family and/or friends rule.

Again with the 676 visas...it is not necessary to prove relationships......merely prove that you have known the person for a reasonable period of time.

If you ve been with your girlfriend for 12 months or more you can get the defacto visa. This states you are together but not married. that visa goes on for 2 years. Probably only if your serious about her
