September 19, 200817 yr . Hello all, I have been with the government insurance program (blue and yellow card; triangle logo) for a number of years. I work for a private school upcountry. This insurance is in my contract and some money (about 800B) is deducted monthly. Last Friday I was called to a meeting at the local insurance office. I had been there in the past and they had processed some claims for dental treatment. I just submitted the paperwork from the dentist and a portion of the charges were cheerfully refunded in cash. This time I was told that all private school employees were opted out of the program as of January first this year and that I had had 6 months to reapply and stay on the program as a private person. The six months were up so I was out. I have heard nothing about this and the school representitive with me was unable to explain why I hadn't been told about this by the school six months ago. Anybody else heard about this? 'nuff said ~
September 19, 200817 yr Sad, but true. I believe your employer is still supposed to provide you with some kind of insurance. At my place we found out by accident, but within the 6 month window. Now I pay 432 a month for the same coverage that used to cost me 750 baht per mo. If you payed money since January you can get it refunded to you. There was a thread in the 'insurance' forum that mentioned this. Good luck.
