Rikker
Re: sukhont's response, วิสัญญีแพทย์ (wi-san-yi-paet) = anesthesiologist, since that wasn't clear A couple other terms in the same vein: ยาระงับความรู้สึก =anesthetic, all kinds ยาสลบ = general anesthetic, that puts you under ยาชา = local anesthetic, that numbs a specific area ให้ยาสลบ/ชา = to anesthetize (ฉีด can be used in place ให้ for an injection, too) Also, I think "ทำให้สงบ", literally "cause to be peaceful" seems to fit the English word "pacify" more than "sedate" to me. ให้ยาสงบ(ประสาท), literally "administer a sedative drug" seems more apt. Since it's the drug, not the person, who makes them sedate. Just my thoughts. To the OP, you can paste these into thai2english or elsewhere to get the romanized forms, if needed.
