What's Going On At Google?

Featured Replies

After I do a Google search I get this image to the left of the search box:

post-35489-1222202501.png

What's this all about? :o

When I click on it, I go to http ://www .google.com/ webhp?hl=en (spaces added to kill the link.)

Edit:

I just cleared my Firefox cache, and it's gone back to the usual Google logo.

Sorry - my bad.

It was anything I entered - even rubbish.

The problem was with the cached file "nav_logo3.png". That should've been a Google logo, but on my PC it was the joke picture that I posted. After clearing my cache in Firefox and going back to Google, it was OK - the file must've been re-downloaded from Google and so the web page looked OK again.

I have no idea where the joke file came from.

hmmm... but googles images get put in specific folders.. unless I am mistaken (and too lazy to check). If im right, you may have a problem.

Thanks for the post - last night I decided to do a full virus scan in the morning, but forgot. So I just did it and fortunately nothing was found. That was with the Kaspersky online scanner.

I think I'll do an Avast scan too - that's the AV s/w I have installed, but I like to do a Kaspersky if I think there's a problem.

The Avast scan will have to wait while I finish checking the other PC on the network. Lots to do on that PC - install Avast, d/l and update IE6 to IE7, d/l and install Java, and - now - download 34 MB of Kaspersky database.

Done nothing today apart from checking for problems. :o

Still don't know where that "nav_logo3.png" file came from.
