jaideeguy Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 My boy just turned 11 and wants to buy his first cel phone....mostly for the games in color as he is bored with my black and white display. I didn't get my first celphone until I was 50, but I know that times are different now. Just wondering if other parents are having this issue with their kids???? and the daughter is 2 yrs behind and at 9 [in dec] she will want one to keep up with her brother.
Plus Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 We let ours carry a phone when they need it, the youngest is 7, and she is the one who is mainly responsible for its safekeeping. They can use the phone to play games, too, but that comes under a different set of rules. It's a relatively old Nokia, but not as old as to have a b/w display.
singa-traz Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 if he buys it with his own pocket money, let him do it. If he suggest you buy it, teach him the difference between Must have and Nice to have.
lazeeboy Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 my daughter has one ,she's 10 ,i think lts good for them ,and i know where she is all the time ,i buy her a 300b card a month ,when its gone its gone, normally doesnt use it all every month.
torrenova Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 What about research into those signals causing problems / cancer etc. and their effect on young kids whose brains are still developing ? Personally I think it is a problem which is never going away but I'd be worried about any health related issues with young kids. I won't even let my daughter (15 months) play with a working real one.
bkk_mike Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 The UK - for the issues of radiation from the phone, says you shouldn't give one to kids under 7. (Note: They have proved that cell phones can cause the brain to heat up - but not that it's actually harmful to anyone). Personally, the kids have them, but I buy them each a 300 baht card one or two times a month just. They're great for when you're picking them up from school or from their friends.
torrenova Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Can anyone tell me how I survived into my 20's without a mobile phone or was I just born at 20+ ? We used to remember phone numbers, lots of them.
