Salon Ettiquette

Featured Replies

Hi Ladies,

My Mrs runs a beauty salon in north Issan, we live above the salon, and sometimes upstairs i can smell "hot hair" , sureley this isnt good for hair, being baked by 2 hairdryes on max heat and blow?

Ive talked to the mrs about this and she promises to ask customers if they want a cool dry or a hot fast dry,

Its hot here now, an i wouldnt want my head blasted with super hot air, how do you ladies feel about this? do you tell your salon you want cool or hot?

Thanks for your comments, Lickey & Pan.

Frankly, if I can smell my hair, the temp is too high. I don't like high heat on my head and too much heat will damage and dry out the hair.

I agree, that's way too hot. It saves time, but like sbk says, it damages your hair.

They seem to use the hot setting to straighten the hair as they dry it. Only here can hairdressers dry my hair poker straight. In the uk always had to use straightners.

When I have a hair wash only, I leave my hairs wet after being cleaned by towels. It's hot in Thailand and hairs will dry very fast. The last time I had a hot blow was 2 years ago.

There was another topic people talked about wet hairs (someone just comes out from the bathroom after doing something :o ). I know a man who can't stand wet hairs.

sounds like the hair dressers arent trained too well if they have the temperature up so high you can smell it burning. under no circumstances should the dryers be on such a high heat.

I don't want to be rude but the "better" people are working in offices or running their own companies or having some other kinds of business.

People who have to do this job are normally not so bright in my opinion.

No, I don't look down on some certain people. My first job was a labor job. Any job helping people to make a living deserves a respect as long as they don't rob or cheat. Just that many tailors and hairdressers I've met are not so bright.

By your standards and mine Koo82, Yesterday i tested the staff, first i wanted hair wash, May done this, but was to vigores, i wasnt relaxed, I feel that somebody washing your hair for money should make it feel a relaxing experince,

Next, i told Wat, my hair is to thick on top, im to hot with this, just thin out please, after 2 cuts, i said Stop, you are pulling it out! there is no hurry, i live here 24/7 so just please be gentle, you have all day. this worked wonders, no more pulling with sissors and another wash after was more like a caress.

Some ladies come here and spend up to 2.500bht for manicure, pedicure, facial, sauna, spa, perm & set, hair relax, they are given choice of cold drinks and fresh fruits, My mrs has been doing this for 25 years and im afraid she treats it like factory farming or the like, [not really] but near.

For that money, i would want a totally relaxing afternoon while others pampered me,

Since i spoke with the mrs about customer choice of heat, no more hot hair smells upstairs! so we are getting somewhere!

Thanks for all your comments, Lickey & Pan.

Gotta agree, one of the great things about getting your hair done is the wash and scalp and neck massage that goes along with it.

Lickey,

Majority of people like it strong :o

I had to find another shop because the lady who washed my hairs almost took off my head skin. She couldn't do it soft no matter how many times I told her.

Reminds me of an old woman who request male masseurs because the female hands and arms are not strong enough.

For me, the masseur thinks she's touching me, not giving a massage :D . I come there to relax. I don't want "purple" arms and legs after the treatment.
