I'm an American citizen, just turned 50 years old, and going to apply for Retirement visa.

What paperwork do I need to give to American Embassy in Bangkok for getting Pension Letter. What is the cost for obtaining letter from Embassy.

If I go with the combination Pension and money in Thai bank (400,000 baht per year pension and 400,000 baht in Thai bank), is it necessary to keep the 400,000 baht in Thai bank for 3 months prior to applying for retirement visa?

What do I need to show Immigration when applying for Retirement visa for the first time? Copy or original of Thai bank account, original Pension letter from USA Embassy, etc.

Thanks in advance for your help. lol

I gather that the USA Embassy does not need any proof of income to issue the letter.

According to the rules the 400,000 does not have to be in the bank for 3 months.

Immigration will need

Letter from Embassy.

Letter from bank verifying bank balance.

Bank Book up to date and showing the same balance.

Proof of your pension in case they want back up of the Embassy letter as they know the Embassy do not need proof.

As we know all Immigration Offices are different in what they require.

US consulate does the proof of income in the form of an Affidavit and you do an oath that its true and correct.

They don't ask for anything but your passport.

Go to american citizens section and get Affidavit form pay 1020 baht ($30) turn in receipt for payment and form and wait for them to call your name. Took me about a half hour total.

They have an appointment system but don't enforce it. If you have an appointment you do not have to take a number.

Link to US citizens service page at consulate: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/service.html

You have to apply for the appointment on line.

I think your other questions have already been answered.

Edit: Just another bit of info. Be sure to take another form of ID with you (IE: drivers license). If you take anything with you that they won't let you take inside. (IE:cel phone) They use that ID by attaching it with a rubberband to what ever you left.

Note if link doesn't work from TV do a copy and paste.

Yes

You will need a letter from you bank confirming the balance. Cost 1-200 baht

Copy of the bank book. Good to have the original on hand as well.

Original letter from the Embassy. Keep a copy for yourself.

Check this as I believe that "seasoning the money is not needed for mixed method.

Reading the act again, you are right.

But as the paragraphs before and after all mention 3 month seasoning

I believe you may be expected to do so. :o
