Western Union - Dai/mai Dai ?

I have just been told that Western Union in the UK would not send money to Thailand. Anyone else have this problem ? Sounds like a crock to me. I ended up getting it sorted through the post office and got 56Baht to the pound. Is there a better/cheaper way ?

Strange....WU from UK to Thailand should be OK.

I suggest you try MoneyGram, it's double cheaper then WU.

I had western Union sent over every month for the 1st 3 years of being here.. i must say i wish i had known about moneygram as like the person above says much better than WU.. the rate that WU give you is nothing short of a con!!

This is not recommended by banks but we leave an ATM card with Ma in LOS and it only costs NZD $5 for her to make a withdrawal, regardless of the amount. Also you get the banks exchange rate so it's pretty good.

Matt, "what is the cheapest way to get money to thailand" is asked about twice a week on this forum. Suggest you scroll back through previous threads and/or do a word search using "western union, money transfer, thailand" etc to get all the relevant info.

As far as i am aware Western Union is about the most expensive way, bank transfer the cheapest, and card withdrawal in between. It does also depend somewhat though on other variables like what bank you are with, what currency you transfer in, etc.
