8 northern, northeastern provinces warned of flash floods

BANGKOK: -- The Meteorological Department Tuesday warned residents of eight northern and northeastern provinces to brace themselves for heavy rains and possible flash floods.

In its morning forecast issued at 4 am, it said a westerly trough, which lies across the North and upper Northeast, will unleash heavy rains in the provinces.

The eight provinces are Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Nong Khai, and Loei.

The department added that about 70 per cent of areas in the North and South would be hit by rains.

Did anyone get around to digging the irrigation ditches deeper yet to carry away the excess water, or will they wait a while until a village or two gets carried away ?

Good luck to those affected by this.

Five provinces warned of flash floods

BANGKOK: -- The Meteorological Department Sunday warned residents of five central provinces to brace themselves for heavy rains and possible flash floods Sunday.

In its morning forecast, the department said Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi, and Prachuap Khirikhan would be hit by heavy rains due to a low pressure mass.

It said the low pressure mass had moved from the upper part of Gulf of Thailand to be over Phetchaburi and Ratchaburi, and thus unleashing heavy rains in the five provinces.
