Roo, I have noticed of late that WindGuru has more than often been totally inaccurate. Today was supposed to have been constant rain, but bugger all so far. Last week I made sailing plans based upon the accuracy of WG forecasts but again totally wrong.

I have been one of the biggest proponents of WG but wonder if something has changed with their parameters/calculations used. At one time you could almost guarantee the accuracy within an hour or two. A comparison between WG and Buoyweather forecasts mostly seem to have nothing in common. Any thoughts? :o

Well, Gatorade it is forecasting, after all.

But I agree with you in principle. Probably the onset of the rainy season, or month, is more difficult to pin down than other times of the year.

I just looked and they have for Thursday at 4am -- 41mm of rain; 7am -- 58.2mm; and 10am -- 21mm. If that is right, or even close, that's more than a bucket-load of rain. Better clean out your drains and get ready for the flooding.

Edit to include the wind speed of 20 and 19 knots...that's about 37mph.

I agree, but if I recall, a forecast is supposed to have a 60% chance of accuracy, although these were aviation parameters. I have just noticed lots of thunderheads building up outside the house

so perhaps WG may be redeemed after all.

Drains cleaned and Ark built and more power cuts to look forward to if they are right.

Still, takes the mind off the political/financial situation.

Don't forget the animal pairs....

I have been inoculated against politics, but the financial situation, <deleted> me! Well, it's only money. You can always make more of that...(I keep telling myself...just take a hel_l of a long time...).

I just checked thursday's forecast too.I think with windguru, long term is not that accurate, will check again tonight & see what they say.As Mark said if it's true, better get yourselves ready.

This is what Accuweather says for wednesday night :http://www.accuweather.com/world-forecast-details.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&locCode=ASI|TH|TH066|SAMUI&metric=1&fday=1

Thursday forecast; http://www.accuweather.com/world-forecast-...ic=1&fday=1

Two different predictions.

I find the warnings on the Thai Met site very helpful, but for forecasts, very general & non specfic.I check the three sites & try to get an idea. But then it's wet season so we do anticipate rain, the only question is how much .

Agree with you, the warnings given by the Thai met are in general terms " the large view" . but still helpfull, at least to me.

The amount of rain is easy 1) Too much when you donot want it 2) Too litlle when... ok I am out of here. :o

And?............. another beautiful day today. The point about the weather forcasting being?.........lol

I this the wrong thread ?

I used to work for the met office in Bracknell (sorry this isnt the what you used to be before you came here thread is it )
