The incident, which occurred on June 10, highlights the potential dangers of good intentions when helping strangers, especially those with mental health issues. Potjana, 56, shared CCTV footage with the media to caution others following her harrowing experience. The footage reveals the naked woman shouting at Potjana and violently pulling her hair before delivering repeated blows. The assault was only halted when another woman intervened. Potjana recounted how her niece alerted her to the naked woman's presence in their community, prompting her to prepare clothes for the distressed stranger. Displaying compassion, Potjana invited her into her home, calmed her down, and helped her dress. Upon discovering a phone number in the woman's bag, Potjana contacted the woman's mother, who soon arrived to collect her daughter. Believing the situation had been amicably resolved, Potjana was shocked when the woman returned later and launched a violent attack. The altercation left Potjana with a head injury and a stomach wound requiring stitches. Her daughter-in-law's swift intervention and subsequent police involvement ensured Potjana's safety as she hid inside her home awaiting help. This encounter underscores the importance of caution. Potjana advises others to prioritize personal safety when offering help, grateful that the attacker was unarmed, minimizing the severity of her injuries. This incident isn't isolated. In May, Chon Buri witnessed a similar occurrence when two naked men appeared near schools and government buildings. One, a local Thai, was known to survive on donations, while the other was a Russian national who escaped a hospital and stripped naked. Although no harm was reported, the incidents have raised concerns about public safety, particularly regarding individuals with mental health challenges. Authorities are urged to ensure the safety of residents and tourists alike, highlighting the need for vigilance and appropriate support for vulnerable individuals.
