Ok what are my options, I live in Chumphae, married to a local girl, am 42 retired, money overseas, no "proveable" income. I have a 1 year non imm "o" marriage visa.

I entered the country on 19th August, expires on the 18th Nov. I don't mind going to Laos every 3 months , is that my only option ? Does anyone know of any of the visa run companies that will pick you up "on route" so to speak ?

I have never done this before, and in comparison Turkey's visa regs are comparively simple. If I re-enter from Laos after getting a visa stamp from the authorities there will it be valid for another 3 months ? Help, I've tried reading the various threads but it gets a bit confusing.

And the big question.... what happens after the year is up ? Options?

thanks

Your only option will be to cross the border at Nong Kai every 90 days. If you do your last crossing the day before your Visa expires you will get another 90 days, thus making a total of 15 months.

After that you could probably get another Multi Non Imm O Visa from KL or Penang.

Not sure if a public bus goes from Chumphae. It does from Khon Kaen. Not too far from you.

By all accounts it is quite easy. You need a Visa to enter Laos , around 1,500 Baht available at the border. Take a couple of photos. Cross the border and come back again, unless you want to stay awhile.

The only other option is. Some members report getting their Wives to pay tax on a fictitious income of 40,000 Bhaht a month. And then getting a one year extension using that. I will let others comment on this.

What kind of visa do you have now? Is it a single or multiple entry?

You are pretty far off the route that visa run companies take.

You should be able to a take a bus to Nong Kai (possibly via Udon) and then cross over to Vientiane to get your visa or leave and get another entry on your multiple entry if you have one.

You say you have no provable income. If its provable or not may depend on what country you are from.

If you want to get a one year extension it is possible to pay taxes to meet the income requirement. This can be done by your wife going to the tax office and declaring an income for the year equal to 40,000 baht per month and pay taxes on her declared income.

Non probable as in money in the bank in turkey and uk.

Its a non immigration "o" marriage visa.

Thanks for all your replies.

Ernest there is no such Visa.

What I think you mean is a Multi Entry Non Immigrant Visa. Obtained because of having a Thai Wife.

Your Wife should know the local buses to Khon Kaen , Udon Thani, Nong Kai. My Wife does anyway.

As said your options are to do visa runs until your visa expires. Then get another one from KL or Penang.

Or get your Wife to pay tax on an income of 40,000 Baht a month to get the yearly extension.

As Lite Beer and myself have said you can get a one year extension of your permit to stay at immigration.

Go to this topic and you will be able to get some more information on your wife paying tax on annual income of 480,000 baht which is equal to the 40,000 baht monthly income requirement.

Also this link to Thai tax office will give you a some information: http://www.rd.go.th/publish/6045.0.html

Also go to page 8 clause 7.17 of the police order and it gives the requirements for an extension.
