Extremely dissappointed that a mod has seen fit to close this thread on a general topic forum.

The issue of migration rules is of great importance to almost all here and general changes in rules inevitably feed through to areas more directly affecting thai visa members.

I have seen many threads both less relevant and including very dubious content allowed to continue.

Is anyone else like me uneasy about this type of unilateral action.

I closed the other thread (and deleted some posts which you obviously didn't see) because it was rapidly descending into the usual Daily Mail "it's all the fault of the Polish/Albanians/Asians/blahblahblah".

If you want to open another thread I'm happy to let it run for a while as long as it stays on topic. If it starts to sink it too will be closed.

It was I that began that thread, the subject being how the policies of one country may affect ex-pats in Thailand.

Unfortunately there are those who seem to have no self control and take the subject way off course, with the end result being the thread is closed down.

If there are any complaints, than these should be put to some other members who continue disrupting these threads, rather than the moderators.

I'm disappointed with the spelling and punctuation that appears in some of these threads.

Are there a lot of Thai's who retire in Britain?

The subject is interesting, but I am wondering just how people see this as affecting us here.

Gov't sometimes foolishly do the tit-for-tat kind of thing, but most have seen that this is not in their best interest. Limiting immigrants/tourists etc., is generally made ont he basis of self-interest and I fail to see how it would be in Thailand's interest to limit them as a result of the current British gov't's actions.

It's precisely the point you make in your last paragraph that I would have liked to have discussed too.

Instead of closing the thread, I would have preferred it if the offending posts were simply deleted and the offenders "sent on holiday".
