Teaching In Thailand

Featured Replies

I have two Bachelor degrees in Mathematics and Mechanical engineering, but i have no teaching certificate or experience - would i still be able to teach in Thailand ?

I assume that i would have to be able to speak thai to teach mathematics or science, but would i be able to teach english, being a native english speaker and having degrees ?

Nobody reads the pinned thread... nobody asks about their qualifications in the questions about qualifications thread... sad sad I'm very sad... :o:D

Ok, I'll copy your question and post in the q about q thread- find me there!

Seeing as you managed to get 2 bachelors degrees would it be that tricky to spend 4 weeks doing a TEFL cert.

Can you really get a tefl in 4 weeks. As i recall, the teaching programmes at my universities in the u.k were for 1 year ?

start in the countryside

learn some thai first

as you progress in lesson planning

keep proper records

when you reach a certain level with your own module

find a better job

make sure you take plenty of photos / video showing you teaching

build a track record and the pay goes up

good luck mate

two degrees is good enough to get a foot in

with some thai

a foot and ahalf

mind the spicy food and don't get HIV from spicy girls

be good

and don't get drunk

The one year TEFL thing at a Uni might be for a dip. or some kind of degree? Although a year doesn't seem long enough for a degree.

You also may find you need a TEFL certificate (4-6 weeks course) to get a TL and thus WP as neither your degrees are in teaching! But then again you might not.

Do as IJWT says mate have a look on the quals thread there's a lot of info there. Also you may want to think about teaching maths or science as well as (or instead of) EFL/ESL you may earn more money that way.

Good luck!
