I am the proud owner of a new unlocked Motorola Q CDMA EV-DO phone. As of now it is a paper weight. I took it to the Loei CAT office and the first guy who looked at it had to get help because it doesn't have a SIM card. The next guy looked at it and asked my wife where the papers from CAT were at. He needed a CAT telephone number to give me service. I have found several CAT email addresses and none have replied to my inquiries. I did get one answer from a guy from Qualcomm. He told me that the CAT information must be programmed into the phone and that CAT seems to have no interest in marketing the CDMA system and they don't seem to care if they get new customers or not. He did give me one more CAT email address and no reply from that one either.

Does anyone have an English speaking CAT contact? I have the ESN number and the phone has a 000 000 3745 phone number programmed in it. I would guess that CAT has to furnish and program in the first six numbers.

I went and asked at my local CAT about using alternative equipment on the CAT network, this was during a period when they had run out of hardware too..

They told me in no uncertain terms that I could not buy CDMA gear from any other vendor and then expect to use it on the network.. When I asked about laptops with built in CDMA modems I just got the 'no cannot' answer.
