Can someone please tell me why the TV channels are odd numbers? I don't watch much TV, but I don't think there was a channel 1. Why do they go 3, 5, 7, 9 & 11?

In the case of Thailand these are the assigned channels in Bangkok. In other locations they can be different; as here they are more like a network. The reason for having a space between channels is to lessen interference that two strong channels on adjacent channels could cause.

I'd always wondered about that!!! Not to the extent of losing sleep you understand, but it was one of those little mysteries.........

I can add that the channel 5, is the military channel and be seen over most of the world.
