1. Pick just about any isp anywhere.

2. Check their tech support website, look at how to set up your email.

3. If their smtp server does not require you to login, then use theirs.

I used to do this all the time when I used multiple isps. I could send emails from any of my accounts on any of the isps' smtp servers.

I see there are no answers here.

How are TOT adsl subscribers expected to send mail?

I tried to get here. The forum wasn't accepting more connections. :o

This will not work!!

Most gateways are closed unless you are on the local network,

this is prevent the server being used for SPAM.

I spoke to TOT today and was told to use smtp.inet.co.th, but that

gives the response "Relay not allowed" as I am not an inet user.

For the moment I am using the ArgoSoft mail programme to run my own gateway.

I used to find about 50% of isps left them open, but they've probably got smarter since those days of muliple dialup connections. :D

Of course there's other ways but.... :D

You signup to a free yahoo/hotmail/other account, and you use the yahoo/hotmail/other SMTP for all your mail accounts.

All you will need is to connect to this account every 2/3 months to keep it alive.

Yahoo and Hotmail are fine for casual users, but useless for serious use.

Accounts like Hotmail/Yahoo etc do not offer POP3 services for reading mail or an SMTP gateway for reading mail with programmes like OutLook Express/ Eudora and the like.

That is interesting, but does not add to the credibility of anyone sending mail.

I am sure these addresses are spammed regularly.

At the moment my little ArgoSoft mail gateway is working well.

And I am using OE with Hotmail; although new users have to have a pay service to allow OE. I get about 3 spam a week on account I have had several years so spam is no longer a problem.

I'm confused as to what you all are trying to do..

only use the SMTP server for TOT ADSL if you're currently connected to their network. if you're using another internet service provider, use THEIR SMPT server, and use the TOT ADSL incoming mail server if you want to get your TOT mail. if you're on a network other than TOT, you do not need the TOT SMPT server to send mail.

don't expect the TOT SMTP server to work if you're not on their network. (I'm not saying it NEVER works, but usually it won't)

if you're a subscriber to TOT, call them up.. hey you're paying for it right.

That is exactly what I am trying to do.

I am connected to TOT adsl, and no other isp.

I have called TOT and they do not appear to have a SMTP gateway.

I was not saying that you should use the yahoo address to send any mail.

Just saying that with Outlook Express, and other mail clients you can use the yahoo SMTP if u have a yahoo account.

People receiving your mail will see your normal mail addess, your normal reply to address, but your mail with have used yahoo SMTP gateway to reach them (and I would say it is a reliable one, as i never had problems using it)

I use pop3 with yahoo and outlook express.

http://help.yahoo.com/help/ca/mail/pop/pop-06.html (setup for OE)

http://help.yahoo.com/help/ca/mail/pop/pop-07.html (setup for eudora)

I only just discovered this last week.

Accounts like Hotmail/Yahoo etc do not offer POP3 services for reading mail or an SMTP gateway for reading mail with programmes like OutLook Express/ Eudora and the like.

Hotmail does work with Outlook Express and to get your mail from a free Yahoo account with OutLook Express/ Eudora you need yahoopops.

I am trying to send an email. I have many pop3 accounts that I pick up mail from but as I am on the tot network and not theres ( UK pop 3 accounts) they won't let me use there smtp servers. ( relaying not allowed )

I need the tot outgoing mail server. I simple thing I would have thought. (TIT)

There must be hundreds of users as there is no room in the exchange now for new users in my area.

As for yahoo and pop3 you need to upgrade your account before you can pick up mail using pop3

Quote [The ability to access Yahoo! Mail via a POP3 email client is only available to customers of Yahoo! Mail Plus . If you have not purchased the Yahoo! Mail Plus service......]
