Please explain an "O" Visa.

I am over 50 is a retirement visa more advisable. I have sufficient money in a Thai bank.

Can a retirement visa be renewed year after year or is there a limit?

I do I begin to process a retirement visa?

Thanks,

Joe

An "O" visa is a non-immigrant visa, with which you can travel to Thailand and get permission to stay for 90 days. The non-immigration comes in different categories (reasons). The O stands for other and is for cases such as married to a Thai, volunteering and retirement.

You can extend your permission to stay to 1 year and every year after that if you are over 50 and:

1. have 800,000 in a Thai bank account 3 months prior to applying for the extension

or

2. have an income of 65,000 THB a month

or

3. have a combination of income and money in the bank totaling 800,000
