Thai Political Parties Dissolved

This democraticaly elected , internationally recognised government has been hammered in the thai courts time after time for alledged electoral fraud.

We have just had the situation where the militant PAD organisation (also faschist and paramilitary ) have illegally occupied the airport thus de-frauding the thai economy and international business of billions of baht.

Do you think the same thai fraud courts will now pursue the PAD for damages ,with the same ghusto they have pursued the democratically elected government

This democraticaly elected , internationally recognised government has been hammered in the thai courts time after time for alledged electoral fraud.

Charges brought & proven in court, by the Electoral Commission, whose job it is to try to keep Thai elections as clean as possible, surely ? Note also that other parties have also been pursued by them ... not just the PPP.

We have just had the situation where the militant PAD organisation (also faschist and paramilitary ) have illegally occupied the airport thus de-frauding the thai economy and international business of billions of baht.

To be honest, I doubt very much, that there will be any serious attempt to pursue the PAD for damages.

But there has been nothing to stop the current PPP-led coalition-government, from investigating corruption during the previous military-appointed government era, perhaps they will eventually make a start on this soon ? Or will they still be obsessed, to the point of ignoring all else, with pushing through the un-consulted constitutional-ammendments white-wash ?

This really seems to be a one-issue government, whoever is in charge, and whatever they call themselves ! :o

PARTY DISSOLUTION

People Power, Chart Thai and Matchima Thipataya parties disbanded

BANGKOK: -- The Constitution Court on Tuesday ruled to disband three coalition parties, People Power, Chart Thai and Matchima Thipataya, and banned the three's party executives from electoral process for five years.

The high court held the three parties for accountability on electoral fraud involving party executives, Yongyuth Tiyapairat of People Power, Monthien Songpracha of Chart Thai and Sunthorn Wilawan of Matchima Thipataya.

UPDATE

Judges face suits over PPP case

Former People Power Party executive Songsak Thongsri [PPP Banned # 23] is considering filing a lawsuit against Constitution Court judges.

Songsak, who was a PPP executive banned from politics by the court when it dissolved the People Power Party and two of its coalition partners, the Matchima Thipataya and Chat Thai Parties last December, accused the judges of breaking Article 157 of the Criminal Code.

The judges did not allow him to defend the PPP against electoral fraud charges in the dissolution trial. This put them in the wrong by denying him the right of access to judicial procedures guaranteed by Article 40 of the constitution, he said.

EC to consider Pua Paendin dissolution today

The Election Commission (EC) will today consider the dissolution of Pua Paendin Party while the Pua Thai party is preparing to submit further evidence to support the dissolution of the Democrat Party.

EC member Praphan Naikowit stated that all members of the commission had been briefed on Deputy Interior Minister Boonjong Wongtrairat's case and that the body may be able to rule on the dissolution of Mr. Boonjong's Pua Paendin party today. He noted however, that the topic was low on the agenda and might not be taken up during the day's meeting.

Pua Thai Party Spokesman Phrompong Nopparit also spoke to the press, stating that his party will be submitting further information towards the dissolution of the Democrat Party to the EC. Pua Thai viewed that the actions of Democrat executives such as Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Secretary-General Suthep Tuagsuban had violated constitution articles 65, 68, 94, 112 and 116.

Mr Phrompong urged the EC through the press to not use a double standard in dealing with the Democrat Party, calling for the same scrutiny given to past dissolved parties, Chart Thai, Thai Rak Thai and Matchima Thipathai.

Pua Thai party will be submitting photos of Prime Minister Abhisit meeting with political elders such as Mr Banharn Silapa-acha, Ms Anongwan Thepsuthin and Mr Newin Chidchob.

EC rules in favor of Deputy Interior Minister

BANGKOK, 6 May 2009 (NNT)-The Election Commission has unanimously ruled in favor of Deputy Interior Minister Boonjong Wongtrairat in the case of his alleged money and name card hand outs, citing lack of evidence.

The EC meeting today voted unanimously to drop further processing of Deputy Interior Minister Boonjong Wongtrairat's alleged hand out of money and name cards to locals in Nak้hon Ratchasima Province. The commission cleared him of all charges after deciding there was insufficient evidence to support claims he was abusing his position as minister and MP.

The EC ruled that Mr. Boonjong's actions could not be construed as interfering with the usual duties of government officials to benefit himself or members of his political party. The commission mostly noted the lack of witnesses to the claims.

Asked whether or not the case would become a precedent for future EC rulings, EC Secretary-General Suthipol Taweechaikarn stated that future cases would be dealt with within their contexts.

Precedence is used in both legal systems; common law and civil law. In common law a precedence becomes a new primary law, while in civil law (as in Thailand), even if not binding, earlier cases will still be referred to in the future. The same law is not supposed to be interpreted differently depending on the accused party.

Congratulations to a wonderful husband and wife duo....

anongwan_thepsuthin-1.jpg

Indeed, Anongwan, Thumbs Up! on a terrific job. Not many couples can claim to have both of its partners BANNED.

Anongwan Thepsuthin (Matchima Thipataya Banned # 10) Party is the wife of Somsak Thepsuthin (TRT Banned # 18).

The only other couple in history, AFAIK, with both members banned is Thaksin's sister Yaowapa Wongsawat (TRT Banned # 13) and her husband Somchai Wongsawat (PPP Banned # 5).

==============================================================

UPDATE...she's now hawking noodles...

31604.jpg

Heated debate has nothing on a heated wok

Since she was a child, Anongwan Thepsuthin has dreamed of opening a roadside food stall a few minutes' walk from her home.

The 52-year-old politician from Sukhothai has lived in Bangkok's Sanam Bin Nam district long enough to get homesick. She rarely gets a chance to visit her hometown.

It is this longing that prompted her to open a small restaurant a few months ago which sells the famous Sukhothai noodles along with other Thai dishes.
