Apec Card

Featured Replies

My APEC card gives me an automatic 90 day entry. Does anyone know if this can be extended whilst still in Thailand?

What kind of extension are you asking about?

You might be able to get a 7 day extension unless you are asking about one year extensions.

No. You will have to do a border run. (I've had an apec card for 4 years, my information is accurate)

The normal means for a business based extension of a 90 day permit of stay would be on the basis of having a work permit, and these require a Non Immigrant visa.

Thanks guys I run to the border it is.

Yes, I have APEC, u must leave every 90 days, however, I wouldnt be living in THailand on APEC, that isnt the purpose for which it is designed. suggest you apply for a non immigrant B multiple re entry for 12 months (or APEC 3 years), you can be in thailand to "conduct business" but leave every 90 days. The purpose of the APEC card is short stays, when it comes time for re-issue, if yo have been using it to live in Thailand, they will question your usage of the card and may not re-issue

I don't agree with your statement. There is nothing in the rules which says you cannot stay in Thailand

provided you comply with the 90 exit rules.

You could be living in Thailand because it is more convenient to

hop over regularly to other APEC countries for business purposes such as China,

Vietnam , Malaysia instead of using Australian as your base.

As long as you are not working as per the terms and conditions provided you are here

carrying out legitimate business activities, APEC has never made any insinuation

to me during my e-mail correspondence that I am not allowed to stay in Thailand

90 days at a time as long as i want? And the Thai authorities have never said anything to me

when I come back in and I am now on my second card.

The APEC card is issued by your own government and they wouldn't have any idea where, how often or how long you visit other APEC member countries.

A bit sideways now Its my understanding that APEC card will be accepted in USA and in the the near future USA citizens will have access? makes sense considering there is criminal background check for every country before card issue

Thanks guys I run to the border it is.

THIS IS NOT CORRECT.... they look at whether you exit thailand and then stay elsewhere without using your APEC Card, so do u understand its a BUSINESS CARD NOT A CARD TO LIVE IN THAILAND......

So if you stay here for 12 months on your APEC CARD that is not what its designed for... yes youy can stay 90 days, but when you leave you should have a home to go to... sounds like you will have a problem.... I only know because I was questioned when my card was re issues, cause i stayed here longer, when I was changing jbs on my APEC Card FYI......

WRONG !!!!!

ITS TIED TO YR PASSPORT< SO They track EVERYWHERE you go......there is an international network as to where your passport travels to, so when they nlock or need to find you it is easy, surely you can work that out.......
