December 9, 200817 yr I've had some pretty bad luck sending some things to France & Italy recently and I'm worried that their customs officials are a bit eager to take parcels that don't look like they have come from a French or Italian nationals, or simply parcels that come from Asia so I'd like to know how to write, 'gift' in these two languages , I've checked on google translate and have found 2 different suggestions: 'cadeau' & 'don' for French and 'regalo' & 'dono' for Italian.. Can somebody help me write the right thing on these parcels please? KK
December 9, 200817 yr Thanks very much, do you think that will help with parcels in customs? I think it is absolutely necessary
December 9, 200817 yr French custom officers can read english, so it doesn't matter if you write in French or in English. But they are not stupid. So if you're doing some ebay business, better be clear about it or you may cause trouble to your "customers" as I doubt French custom will bother going after you.
December 9, 200817 yr Author I never assume these officials are stupid, I just think it may look a bit more convincing if something is sent as a gift if it's actually coming from a relative or friend, hence the same language I include the description(clothing) and price in Euros
