What To Do With The Old Government House ?

Featured Replies

The new (temporary ?) Government House cost (allegedly) 1,000 million Baht to convert, is conveniently-located next to Bangkok's smaller airport, and makes use of a large building which was previously standing empty. So why not stay there ? !

The old Government House, after a spot of gardening & painting has been done, is more-centrally located in Bangkok and could now be put to a variety of other uses.

I myself might propose an Art Gallery or Museum, a College or University Campus, a Ministry building or some such.

Were I being frivolous, then perhaps a Dance-School for Traffic-Cops and Army-Grenadiers, or a warehouse to store all those people currently occupying inactive-posts. :o

So what alternative uses might other TV-posters suggest ?

Apparently there has been some talk of turning it into a museum ? Actually, even before the latest trouble at Govournment House there was talk about building a new one over in Thonburi on some land owned by the military but after Thaksin was evicted nothing new was heard on the subject......until now.

Why not leave it as it is and use it as a tourism draw , how political problems are solved in Thailand , take frustrations out on an inanimate object , it cannot fight back .

A Circus, because they have plenty of clowns available.

I think I vaguely recall, under ex-PM Samak, further talk of this, because the current squatters/occupiers of the land were not happy, with being moved from wherever it was, and that got publicity.

What sort of new museum would Bangkok need, or would it be better to relocate an existing one, which doesn't have enough space, thus releasing a further building for another use. A string of upgrades/improvements would be good !

dumball's idea, "The PAD Experience", is an excellent spoof-use, too ! :D

London had this self-same dilemma, with the Millenium Dome, after 31st December 2000. One proposal was for a casino ... 'nuff said. :o

Could be used as the party HQ for Pad. :o:D

I saw a lot people being moved to inactive positions and the new government will do so again. So we'll need a place for them to stay.

government house might be great and we have that aerobic army guy with him they can make some sport.....

Or you give it once a month for a PAD concert and take 50 % of the profit.

Or indeed as a jail for the same, and any other criminals, currently on-the-run ? :D
