My student visa runs out next month, and I have to go back on a tourist visa for a few months, until I start my masters degree. I know it's easy to get a double entry visa for Thailand from Laos, but I have some friends going to Manila next month and would like to join them there. So, I was thinking of getting my double entry thai visa there. I read one post which was very negative about being able to get one there. I wondered if anyone had tried getting one there and what happened. Or if anyone has any first hand experience of this topic. Please let me know. Thanks alot Paul

I don't recall any good reports for Manila. You might get a single entry.

Don't even bother! They basically don't want to issue any visas for travel to Thailand from that embassy. Maybe it's because they think Filipinos all want to work illegally in their beloved Thailand so their policy is basically not to issue any to anyone. It doesn't matter if you are a Westerner or Filipino...they make you jump through many hoops and then more hoops to get any type of visa.

I speak from experience. A couple years ago, I was due for a visa run and hadn't had and R&R in the Pines for some time so thought I would spend a week in the Philippines and also get a new tourist visa for Thailand. Well, even for a tourist visa they wanted to see like B 20k or US$ 500 in currency or TCs (a Citibank gold mastercard was not enough); onward plane tickets from Thailand; travel itinery for Thailand, hotel reservation/confirmation; and other stuff I can't remember now.

I told the clerk what he could do with his requirements and that I would just piss-off to Penang after my 30-day entry in Thailand expired on my return to Thailand and get the visa there!
