December 11, 200817 yr Hi , I want to ask the readers of this forum to give their help and support to a very worthy cause in Phuket. I was recently told about a special needs school in Phuket, it caters for Thai children, boys and girls who are either deaf or dumb, Autistic, suffering from Downs Syndrome, mentally retarded and various other problems. Although it is Government funded it does not get enough money to run properly and constantly needs help to keep running. It relies heavily on gifts of money and food from the Public. They need almost every thing including pens, pencil's, paper, paints, drawing pencils, toiletries, toothpaste and brushes, soap, towels Sanitary towels, clothes and food. If you want to give food they ask that you make an appointment for delivery by telephoning the following number 089-8663072, I have forgotten the blokes name but I suggest you get the wife or girlfriend to call as I don't think he speaks English. They ask that you don't buy Footballs or other sports stuff because most of the kids don't understand the concept of games and the result is chaos leading to tantrums and arguments. For donating anything else but food just turn up in School hours and it be gladly accepted. The address is, Phuket Special School, 133 Moo 2 Tambol Pakhlok Amphur Ta-lang Phuket 83110. Tel 076 260448. The easiest way to get there is to go to the Heroines Monument and take the East bound turnoff, ie the opposite the way to Surin, Carry on for two or three miles and you will see a sign on your left saying Special School turn right, follow the road, you then come to a fork, take the left fork go a bit further and then you will see wall paintings on your right, then enter the school by the second entrance. I was there this week and was touched by seeing all these children who need help, they are very friendly and affectionate I appreciate you probably support other causes or have enough outgoings and bills to pay already but a contribution from you will really help the children and believe me they need help. Thank you.
December 11, 200817 yr It's a worthy cause, I'll ask my wife to get in touch. Thanks CroBiker, may be some more members here in Phuket are willing to give a bit of help for these kids, we could go together. Gerd
