Humphrey Bear
If you are retiring here ... why worry about hotel prices? But there are many on this board posting from cold old blighty .. you can take comfort in that Erm, I did say retiring and wanting to go for a long stay over there, but I'm not retiring to Thailand. Once no income, budget will be real tight, so need to have low season hotel prices for sure, not maybe. Anyway, thanks for the answers. Don't look at hotels if you are here for six months or so - studio room in a condo, room to let in a newly bui;t block (there are plenty up Soi 17 for instance). But with the pound on parity with the Euro you're money will not stretch far. Graft for another couple of years, if you are in work, then the situation should have improved a little. Prices in Thailand are not going down - and I am sure they will rise as the locals realise that there is a dearth of free-spending tourists.
