Just for something different, i'm thinking of heading up to Udon Thani from Phuket for New Year, i've had mixed responses when mentioning this to people though, some say there won't be much to do while others tell me it will be a blast, can anyone fill me in on any parties that will be going on for new years eve in Udon? are there any decent clubs? what time do the bars generally close? any help would be much appreciated as i'm now running out of time to get my flight booked,

Wow , this looks like a terrible disaster for you , can't you find a bar you have never been to in Phuket , save the air-fare and throw your own special party , that would be different .

First off, you will have to fly: Phuket-BKK.-Udon-BKK.-Phuket. A lot of money and hassle for very little payoff, IMO.

Most probably, there will be your typical beer bar parties: a few balloons and "Happy New Year" banners strung up, maybe the girls a little more dressed up. Most probably, business as usual in the discos.
