I'm doing a bit of research so your constructive input is important.

If you are a Farang married to a Thai and either now or in the future plan on living in Thailand on a married to Thai Visa extension then:-

1:- What do you see as the MAJOR problems with the system that is in place now?

2:- What changes would you like to see made to the existing regulations?

3:- Would you exchange the ability to apply for PR in the future for a longer term married Visa?

4:- Would you feel more comfortable if Immigration looked at your Net Worth (in Thailand) like cars, property, companies rather than your bank account?

5:- Anything else you feel is important.

If you do not feel comfortable answering questions on this forum PM and I'll give you an email addy to reply to.

I would say the current system works quite well for married men, provided you can ante up the 400K at the right time each year.

PR is only possible if you have a job and pay tax at a good rate,

which is a shame as many of us would like to have more security.

I would not want to increase the "net worth" that I have in Thailand,

I do not feel the system or the currency is stable enough.

When I first arrived the baht was 25/US$ and 37/UK pound, compare that to today's rates...............

PS It is better to marry a Thai lady, than a visa extension.... :o

I have inserted a comma, to clarify what I think you meant.

What I meant in #4 was if you owned a condo valued at ??? or whatever????Immigration would take that into consideration as part of or in lieu of the 400,00Bt in the bank.

The visa extension of stay is for support, and the money is to show that you can support. So how is a condo going to provide her upkeep? Perhaps it would be more productive to remove the "support" requirement for a long term stay?

I would love to see the extension made available for 5 years similar to the drivers license. Going back two or more times to find out if the approval is back from Bangkok is an aggrivation.

I would also like to see the 90 day address notification computerized.

If you had to rent a condo or house to live in it would cost $$$ so buying a condo is showing support just not monthly. My thinking anyway.

Some good points guys... Thanks
