Can Not Access International Web Pages Via True

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Using True 2meg ADSL and latest Firefox and when accessing international (mainly european) web pages i get Page load error / Address not found message. Usually i need to refresh around 4 to 5 times before the correct page is found and downloaded. This has been the case for couple of weeks now, earlier it worked fine...

Local pages are working ok and loading in first try.

Something to do with True proxy's or DNS settings ? Any help or advice appreciated.

Try deleting your temporary files.

If no good, then call true and they'll help you to set up a specific proxy server (fuked up my taskbar tho...)

Tried to delete temps and no luck. I also use my laptop at work so defining True proxys will cause problems at office i believe :o

I use my laptop at half a dozen places (wifi) and the true proxy (defaulted and defined) caused problems / irritations, so I got rid of it, but the deleting temp files has worked for me - vista home basic.

True were (surprisingly) very helpful and with clear English when the missus called them; standard helpline (she's out at the mo).

Most likely a DNS issue that true have had over the last week. Use the opendns instead (works for me) 208.67.222.222 and the others they list. Also make sure port 53 is not blocked (DNS port) as happened to most ISP's the other day over new year.
