Nope, it's impossible.

Why is it impossible if using satalite is it because it only covers europe

The satellites are either below the horizon or are too close to be of any use.

Google "livestation" download the program and you can watch sky as well as 100 other TV stations around the world as long as you have the bandwidth to support it. I used it to watch the election coverage on cnn in real time on our 50" wide screen. You can also go to MSNBC and download most of their news programs in MP4 format. If you are using a mac computer use "igetter" as the downloader it is faster and more reliable than the native one used by OSX.

Certain Sky channels are possible.

Just to expand on what has been said: Sky cannot be received in the usual way in Thailand because the Astra satellite is below the horizon, but some of the channels may be accessible in other ways. None of the options are perfect but if you really want certain channels this may be worth investigating.

(1) Apart from UBC True Visions (the main Thai provider), a number of other satellite packages can be received on sat TV in Thailand (e.g. MCA, Astro, Dream etc.) and these carry some content bought from Sky or generic channels that Sky also purchases.

(2) Many of these channels are streamed on certain internet sites and can be obtained either free or for a small fee. Usually the quality of the picture is poor because of limited internet speed/bandwidth.

(3) Slightly better results can be obtained by using a kind of private version of streaming, which involves feeding output from a Sky receiver in the UK into a special device like Slingbox or PCTV Anywhere, and using the internet to make this available to a recipient in say Thailand. A few people with homes in both countries use their UK subscription to obtain Sky in this way. Devices like Slingbox allow remote channel changing, but not if somebody at base is changing Sky channels at the same time.

So in short it is not entirely impossible to get Sky in Thailand but a lot of hassle.

Sky TV boadcastcasts using the Astra 2 satellites http://www.lyngsat.com/europe.html

The footprints for these satellites can be seen here http://www.brittany-satellites.com/astra_footprint.php

citizen33 is spot on regarding actually receiving the actual Sky broadcasts. There are sites on the net which you can pick up say soccer from Sky UK, Setanta UK, Setanta Ireland, Setanta US, Fox soccer channel etc. Quite often they are streamed through commercial servers like Justin.tv or ustream.tv by subscribers. Streaming rates are usually between 250kbs and 800kbs.

Some quick Googling should yield interesting results.
