Citronella / Lemon Anti-bark Dog Collar

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a way to train my dogs (Yorkies) not to bark. Of course some barking is fine, but they are getting WAY out of hand and it's irritating both me and the neighbours.

I have considered using one of the "shock" collar - on the LOWEST setting possible! - but I'd much rather something more humane if I can find it.

Thanks for any help or advice.

We have 2 German Shepards who used to be very good about not barking. We went on vacation for 6 months this year and when we came back they would bark at anything and everything that passed the front gate. I did some Googling on 'training barking dog' and there's lots of information.

We went with the "quiet" method. Whenever the dog barks at nothing you simply grab ahold of their snout closing their mouth and telling them "quiet" in a normal tone. They learn very fast and it doesn't take long before you can just say "quiet" without grabbing their snout. After a few days they got the message and the barking has reduced substantially.

It takes some of your time but well worth it. Give it a try and hope it helps you. Good luck.
