Maid Agency To Recommend?

Recommended Posts

Are there currently any good, reputable maid agencies in Bangkok?

So far I have heard of one run by a British man that is good,

and another run by a Thai lady that is not.

If you know of any good, central maid agencies,

Recommend here please!

Thanks!

I've been pretty happy with Maid to Order which I believe is run by a Brit. Google maid to order Bangkok to find the site since links aren't allowed. I have two hours twice a week service and I can't believe how much the maid gets done in two hours. They will shop and do other errands for you as well.

Yes, I have heard that Maid to Order is good.

I have also seen a site called Maids in Bangkok, which looks like it is new.

I have sent them both an inquiry and see which one looks suitable.

I am surprised that there are no large, well organized western run agencies here yet..

I may have to take back my recommendation, not sure yet. There's been a problem with the service lately but I am going to wait and see how it is resolved before saying that they aren't good. I'll let you know when I get a resolution.

Keep us posted. I am looking for a full time live in maid/nanny. I used Maid to Order a few years ago with no problems.

Maids in Bangkok looks to be expensive.

Expect to pay around 15,000 - 20,000 Baht per month for a full-time, English speaking domestic helper

When I was looking for full-time, maids were going for around 6,000 - 8,000 baht per month. I mean, Thai teachers make how much? So why should a maid be equal or more?

Why are you surprised?

Busy and well married women who need maids are mostly in Singapore and Hong Kong, not in Bangkok.

Plenty of agencies there.

Curiously, the need for maids vanishes if the allowance goes away or they are suddenly happy with an illegal Burmese who not only can't speak English, but knows only a bit of Thai and is happy with 3000-4000B + live in.

Did everything go okay?

They have replied but Maids in Bangkok has not replied in over a week to an initial inquiry.

So, Maid to Order seems like the one that is available now..

In the 5 years i have been here , gone through about 6 Thai maids in the first 18 months , had problems from Theft to being plain Lazy ,for the last few years ,had and still have a very good english speaking Burmese , just gave pay rise to Thb 10k per month , and would never ever use a Thai again , most of the residents in my condo also have Burmese, they work harder and have more repsect for a foreigner than the Thai Maids ,IMO :o

I have heard from two other people of complaints about Maid to Order (also has the url name getmaids)

One from date switching and maid canceling some service days, but not providing a backup

and another who gave notice to the maid before traveling, but the agent did not refund the deposit because the notice was not in writing.

That is the only agency that seems to be available right now.

The other site, Maids in Bangkok, the owner seems to be MIA, and hasn't replied to emails for over two weeks, even though his site and enquiry is up and running.

Wow... are there any other options here!!??

BNOW often sends out ads referring to maids. The ads are from Westerners leaving Thailand, searching for good positions for their maids before they go. The ads say the maids are well trained. Some are English speaking.

Just sign up for BNOW's newsletter (it comes once a week).

I got my present maid from a former condo (I asked the office staff who they recommended). When I relocated, the maid asked to come with me.

So if you know anyone in a condo with mostly Westerners, you could ask their office staff (a long shot, but it might work).

The first maid I got that way was Western trained and brilliant. She left when her main employers relocated, so I requested another. This one has worked out well too. Trustworthy, conscientious, doesn't turn her nose up at anything, even loves to water plants.

The problem is now sort-of resolved. I can't say that I'm very happy with Maid to Order at the moment, but I'm not entirely sure that some of the problems could have been avoided.

Something was broken in my place and I've asked the maid to replace it (I'll pay for it since they don't seem to have the agency pay.) It's been two months and it has not been fixed. It was not urgent, but I'm starting to wonder if it will ever happen.

The maid did not show up one day and I was planning on having a party the next day. The owner could not give me a good idea of what time she would be coming to clean so I had to cancel the party. I wouldn't have minded as much if there was more notice.

thats insane,,,, but im sure threr only getting 10k of it the rest goes to the company. We have live in maids we pay 10k a month each plus f&b free apt ect so it works out to like 12-13 k 15-20 is a bit much

I had that happen once and was a wee bit miffed as I had plans too.

She did have a good excuse though (can't be faulted). There was a coup so the new government gave that Wednesday off (awfully nice of them).

Horray!!!!! I just found an agency!!!

MaidinThai.com (is it ok to post links?)

It looks like the site is only in Thai right now

I talked to the owner, who speaks very clear English

and scheduled for the maid to start this weekend.

Great find! Please let us know how it turns out.

Btw - if you scroll down on that site and look to the bottom right, you can change from Thai to English...

I also do not recommend Maid to Order.

The owner is not very good with basic administration, does not followup or ensure that the maids are arriving on time and fulfilling the tasks, doesn't make up for the maids missed days, and is overall generally flaky.

I have also heard of two others who were not refunded with deposits from that agency,

once when the hirer terminated the maid after items were stolen,

the agent denied responsibility and refused to refund both the deposit and payment for the full month,

and another when the hirer informed the maid of schedule and travel ahead of time,

and the agent refused to refund the deposit because the notice was not in writing.

Rather silly, and not really the point of having an agency to begin with, who should be well organized enough to provide the service that is advertised.

I have also hired a maid recommended by the condominium building, but would also prefer to find an agency rather than freelance. Hopefully soon there will be a suitable established agency in Bangkok.

Let us know how it goes with Maid in Thai.

YESS!!!!!! I do recommend Maid in Thai

The experience with them has been very good.

The owner is very prompt and attentive

and they even have maids who speak excellent English.

The maid they assigned worked on permanent staff in a 5 star hotel,

and speaks English fluently.

All tasks are completed proficiently.

The agency owner is very easy to reach, and is very clear about the assignment and tasks for the maid.

It seems to be the best agency found in Bangkok right now.

so how much is the going rate and how much are you actually paying for this service?

i have seen some companies charging as much as 6000 baht just for the admin charge.

not being funny but a maid costs that much for a month full time.

ive lived here 6 years and am just curious about what rates these companies are charging

that to me will also be an important factor in determining a good company from a middle man, and not just an appraisal that has no back up..
