Just booked a flight to London on British Airways for June 2009 for Baht 36,770 return - about Baht 12,000 less than Thai Airways for same dates.

Check out the British Airways website if you intend to travel to London this year.

If you actually phone BA / Qantas in Bangkok they re-route you at no cost to the UK and you can book the same fare in GBP (but paying by a Thai card) for about 10-15% less (based on a trial booking last week).

I suspect it has something to do with their internal FX rate.

BA at Bt37k is about £700 which is a very poor fare, though we are being penalised at the moment with the GBP / THB rates.

For people flying at least twice a year, consider a long dated BKK-LHR-BKK ticket and a shorter dated LHR-BKK-LHR to provide the missing legs. Often works out better.

£700 for a return flight to London in June may or may not be "a poor fare" but it happens to be £240 less than the same return flight on Thai Airways.

So is it rubbish, the recent news of Thai Airways reducing fares by up to 45%??????

Confused!

The price on the Thai website isn't the cheapest. They only show certain booking classes. The bucket shops/websites do it much cheaper. If you aren't looking for upgrades/miles etc, the TG website isn't much good.

Qantas crew seem to spend most of the flight messing about or chatting. I think most of them only do the job so they can shag each other.

with aifares from the uk being half price (some £400) comparing to fares from thailand (some 35k baht) I am booking for my partner only one way on British Airways for 21k baht (available winter/spring)

I hope that fares from London wil be falling further, which would allow us to fly at least twice per year (instead of just once per year).

I don't see a point paying anymore inflated thailand charges

Tickets on Etihad can be booked for 19.500 + Tax (1 month stay) 21.500 (2 month stay) Tax to UK 11K+

Yes, just booked BKK-LON-BKK 1st of March returning 1st May for 32k Bht with Etihad.

Best deal we could find right now.

All things considered after flying a couple of times with BA to LOS, they would have to have a fare of £350 return for me to use them again .

They are the pits.

After making a profit of almost £1 Billion last year ......Now ..

BA expects £150m operating loss

(26/01/2009 - 15:12:21)

British Airways said today it would make an annual operating loss of around £150m (€158m) after costs rose by more than expected.

The airline blamed the impact of currency movements for an 8% year-on-year rise in non-fuel costs, compared to previous guidance of 5%.

SO...When is the real BIG SALE..........

British Airways...... Sale.....Cheap Flights...... Your having a laugh aren't you?

I was looking at their site yesterday (purely for comparison) and, as usual, they're still one of the most expensive, if not the most expensive that I found. That plus delays, poor service, missed connecting flights and lost baggage. All my last experience of flying with B.A. For a 35,000 baht one way to England in 2007. Never again was the cry.

BAs idea of a SALE is so......... :o:D:D couldnt make it up.... :D

I agree. They normally bring their prices down to what other airlines charge for better service. Any real deals mean you have to fly on a wednesday in mid-February and come back the previous week! :D

I only fly BA if there is no other option available.

Etihad seems to be the peoples choice, nice to have a leg stretch and coffee at AD, the films are always up to date in their Airbus planes which have decent leg room, and I get through more free beers than I should, staff are polite and the prices are always keen.

Why bother flying with anyone else?....I have heard Eva Air are good especially the upgrade to EverGreen but the money me and her would save flying from the UK we could spend on better things in Thailand.

Depends on your point of view and where you're flying to & from ... I've never tried Etihad but I did fly Emirates BKK-UK return a couple of times and just found that 'two shorter flights' were much more tiring than 'one long flight' where I can usually get a few hours decent sleep ... to be fair my main objection to EK these days is that their prices seem to be higher than everyone else's these days when they used to be cheaper!
