Nok Airlines set to resume Bangkok-Phuket service

BANGKOK: -- The budget carrier Nok Airlines will resume its Bangkok-Phuket flights from Feb 20 after an eight-month break when it underwent a corporate rehabilitation.

The Thai Airways International affiliate will operate two flights a day on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, using Boeing 737-400 jetliners.

Chief executive Patee Sarasin said the resumption of flights to Phuket was in line with the revival of traffic, mostly leisure, through the resort island ion recent weeks. He said that the airlines currently operating on the route sometimes could not meet all the demand.

With the sharp decline in fuel prices and to promote the route, the airline will offer competitive fares starting from 1,490 baht one-way.

Phuket will be the sixth Nok destination in addition to Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang and Udon Thani.

Mr Patee said the reintroduction of the Phuket route did not mean an increase in capacity as it had cut flights to Nakhon Si Thammarat due to weaker demand.

glad to hear them coming back, choice is always nice. but 8 flights a week each way? still no comparison to TG and FD for frequency.
