Sweden praises Princess Ubolratana for assisting Swedish tsunami victims

BANGKOK: -- Sweden has praised Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya for her hospitality and immediate assistance to Swedish people and other foreign tourists who were injured in last week's tsunami attack on Thailand's southern Andaman coastlines.

Many Swedish survivors told international media that they were impressed by the hospitality and prompt action of Princess Ubolratana, the eldest daughter of Their Majesties the King and Queen, who helped rescue injured Swedish and other foreign victims by using her private helicopter to transport them to hospitals.

The princess was in Khao Lak of Phang-nga Province with her two children--Khun Poom and Khun Siri Kittiya Jensen--for a private holiday trip when the giant waves hit the area.

The Swedish government also sent a message to Thailand, through its embassy in Bangkok, yesterday, expressing its thankfulness, on behalf of the Swedish Royal Family, the government and the people, to the Royal Thai Family, the Thai government and the Thai people for the hospitality and tireless assistance they have given to all the Swedish victims over the past days.

Stockholm has also sent its rescue team to Thailand's tsunami-affected areas to help search for bodies and survivors of the tsunamis.

Thousands of Swedish were among those who died and were injured from last week's tsunamis, which unprecedentedly struck on the country's six southern resort provinces of Phuket, Phang-nga, Krabi, Trang, Ranong and Satun, leaving nearly 5,000 dead, over 10,000 injured and scores of others still missing so far.

"Khun Poom Jensen", the only son of Princess Ubolratana herself was also killed by the giant waves' disaster
