Windows Messenger

Featured Replies

Every time I turn on my computer and select XP, I get this 'Windows Messenger' pop up.

I only have one message for Windows and it cannot be published here!!

How do I get rid of it?

Colin

I removed Messager from this computer so I can't give you the exact path, but if you open the application, look through the tools/options/settings drop down menus there will be a tick box that asks " Run on opening Windows" or similar, just clear the x from the tick box.

You can remove the application completely using Add or Remove Software from within your Control Panel.

Go to Control Panel ->Ad and Remove Programs and under Windows Components you can disable on one place the MS Messenger.

Cheers.

Personally I just go to Program Files > Messenger and rename the .exe files to something else such as msmsgs.exe to msmsgs-old.exe

I recommend to disable the "Messenger Service" in Administrative Tools/services as well.

In my opinion the instance is otherwise still running in the background
