Out Then Back In

Have non imm O retirement, multiple entry status. Will go to USA in April, first time out of Thailand in 4 years. What steps do I need to take in advance, will be in USA for a week only. Do need to do TM8 to reenter, do I get forms with the Airlines, or do I need to make a trip to Hua Hin immigration for anything special. Thanks in advance. Also have to renew in June (1 year) will the exit and re-entry extend or will it still be a must do in June?

Thanks

If you have a re-entry permit already you don't have to do anything, just leave and when you comeback fill in the number of your re-entry permit on the arrival card. That's it.

Check if you have a re-entry permit! If you don't have a re-entry permit you need to get one from immigration, before you leave Thailand. You cannot get one at the airport. You will need a photo and fill in a form and pay 1000 baht fee.

If as you say you have a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa, you do not have to do anything. Personally I am not sure what you actually do have as your terminology is a bit difficult to understand.

Do have a Visa obtained from a Consulate or an extension obtained from Immigration?

If he has been here for 4 years straight then he is definitely now on extensions, not on an O-A visa anymore. If the OP has a currently valid multiple reentry permit then he is good to go. If not, he should go get a single reentry permit before the trip. If he has any doubts, he can scan the permit and post it here.

There is a chance that he could have been getting Multi entry non o visas every year. Unlikely but it is always good to be sure.

Ok. You are on 12 monthly extensions. Your O Visa expired years ago.

You do not have to do anything when you leave. When you come back write your Re Entry Permit number on your arrival card at airport immigration.

When you apply for your next extension you will need to apply for the Re Entry Permit again. However if you only leave the country once in 4 years it might be a waste of money. A single Re Entry Permit costs 1,000 Baht a Multi costs 3,800 Baht. You can always get a single from Immigration if you are going to make a trip in future.
