Nine killed in road accident in Ayutthaya

AYUTTHAYA: -- Nine people returning home from a funeral in Lampang were killed Sunday evening when their station wagon was hit by a 18-wheel truck.

The accident happened at 5 pm on a road in Nakhon Luang district.

Police said the nine, including three children, were returning home from a funeral in Lam Pang. They dropped by at a temple in Ayutthay and their wagon were hit by the truck after they left the temple.

How very sad. My condolences to the friends, family and neighbors of the victims.

9 people in a station wagon? Very cramped, possibly illegal. Could the driver see out of the rear mirror?

RIP

125 people die due to trauma every day in Thailand. This includes all accidents including traffic, home & industrial and murder. Source: WHO

Maybe illegal but compared to 3 or 4 (or more) on a motorcycle they would have been traveling in the lap of luxury "until the 18 wheeler hit them" that is.
