Hp Mini 2140

Featured Replies

Title says it all - the HP Mini 2140 is basically a HP Mini-note with the deficiencies of the 2133 (crap processor) and 1000 (slow FSB, small and slow hard drive) fixed.

I was seriously thinking of getting a 1000 (I think I saw a Linux edition) until I saw this...but now I'm wondering if its worth waiting...but then you can spend your whole life waiting for things to happen here sometimes :o

Anyone seen the 2140 in Thailand yet? Price?

Did a tour of Fortune today. There are 'new model' HP Mini's on the way, but nobody could tell me when or what number. Anyway, I decided against the HP Mini 1001 - the Linux version seems to have evaporated, the staff have no recollection of ever seeing it, and you can only get it with Windows XP Home - which means restricted to 1GB RAM (arghhh!!! why???!?).

So I'm waiting. And hoping the new model is the 2140. All I could find out was that the new one is aluminium, so good chance. Also noticed that the Mini 2133 is savagely discounted now - one shop had it for B9,990. Nobody wants it.

Any sightings of the HP Mini 2140 anywhere in Bangkok?

Bump - don't suppose anyone has seen one in Thailand? It's beginning to look like the 2140 will be outdated when (if) it ever arrives here.

So an update: Still no HP mini 2140 in the shops, however the HP shop in Fortune is now saying they are 'on market' which is an improvement over 'what?'. However, I saw an interesting new black plastic model, I think it was called the 1006 TU. It looks like the 1000 with some of the design mistakes fixed:

* N280 processor

* 5400 RPM drive

* Has a VGA/projector port

* Stupid proprietary USB port replaced with standard one

13,000 baht. Thinking about buying one, but I would still prefer a 2140 with a metal case, if one could be had.
