Fast Food Delivery

Featured Replies

fast food, not sit down restaraunts...

do you have to tip these delivery people from pizza hut, mcdonalds, kfc...? i know mcdonalds charges 20 baht per delivery, not sure about pizza co or kfc...but are these guys getting paid per delivery? or are they on a salary?

the pizza co guys in my area have been around for a long time, so the pay must be acceptable to them.

im not a cheap charlie, but when they linger around for that split second in anticipation of a tip, it bothers me whether or not they are dependent on tips...and makes me not want to tip them because they are expecting it...but if they work for tips then, its all good.

In which city are you located?

I think it's generally accepted that 20 baht for the driver is norm - over and above any delivery charges that may or may not be charged by the restaurant.

George, im in bangkok.

in the case of mcdonalds, why would i give them a 20 baht tip if they are already getting an additional 20 baht per delivery?...and i am the one who has to pay that 20 baht charge?

you seemed to have answered your own question then mate.

I normally give a flat 20.

Or, I add and round off the full payment to include something almost 20.

Ex. Food bill is 122, I give 140 flat and tell them to keep the change.

I also tip about 20 for this but I wonder what most Thai people would tip.

I think Thais would probably do something like what JunkOfDavid says he does. I.e. a "keep the change" type of tip rather than specifically digging around for some extra cash to give them.
