Non-immigrant O Visa Expiry Date

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has been covered before - which I am sure it has.

My 12 month Non-Immigrant O Visa expires on 30th April.

My next visit to Thailand is 23rd March to 22 May.

Question -Can I rely on staying the 22 days in May as a tourist or do I need to renew the visa before I travel ?

thank you.

You could stay for the full period of your 90 day entry if you wished to.

Once you have entered the country the experation date of your visa means nothing.

Yes. When you enter on 23rd March you will get 90 days.

You can even exit/enter on 29 April and get another 90 days if you wished.

Thank you for those replies. It will save me having to renew the Visa until I return to the UK.

Both replies are very helpful. Posters and readers often get Visa and permission to stay confused. As long as you enter the country before your visa expires, you will get the appropriate time to stay even if that means you stay beyond your visa expiration date.

Visa's are an "use by" (or enter by) whereas permissions to stay are just that..permission to stay within the country to a certain date.

So, a one-year visa can end up getting you almost 15 months of stay in the country if you work it correctly.

Good luck!
