Film-rating system to take effect in May

BANGKOK: -- Starting this May, film-rating system will come into effect in the country for the first time.

The Cabinet Tuesday approved four draft regulations on the system.

"We should be able to enforce the regulations from May onward," Culture Minister Teera Slukpetch said.

Instead of having five categories for films, Thailand's system will classify films into seven groups.

"The two extra groups are for films that should be promoted on merits of cultures, arts or traditions, and films that should be banned for containing inappropriate content," Teera said.

Happy happy joy joy. More bannings of the film arts. I hoped for better than this under Abhisit.

Abhisit didn't invet film ratings.

So far many movies were banned altogether instead of limiting the audience.

Happy happy joy joy. More bannings of the film arts.

...and more traffic in emule/torrent etc...:o

Movie ratings x 7 = more censorship = more government propaganda = more control of of information = Thai people believe everything government says = everybody is happy

:o:D :D
