Thailand/tourism

Featured Replies

Was wounder after reading about the death of a farang whos head was cut off and hung from a bridge if all the negative things that happen to tourists and expats in thailand are also having a very very big effect on the tourism also...

I hear about the economy all the time but now I hear from many western friends about the bad news coverage and amount of deaths and foreign govt warnings about thailand, I think the treatment of these crimes by people dont realise the impact it has on the country. Even my thai wife says thais have to stop bitting the hand that sometimes feeds them.

any opinions welcome please keep on topic about the impact this has on the tourism please

it's rather mass killings (like terrorism on the new year's eve 2006), natural cataclisms (like tsunami), military putch in 2006 or political instability at the second part of the last year (making thailand a banana monarchy), which work on imagination and influence mass travel, and not individual accidents.

ps as to now not much is known about the hunging on the bridge, it well might be suicide

When Mr and Mrs Mac.Glumshie and their 4 kids are looking out for a holiday of a lifetime ... bit different (maybe just got his redunancy money) and they come over a blog relating to last year like this ....

what did TOT /Thai Government expect :o

Thailand 7th on the Dangerous Countries list..

Thailand is no longer a tourist-friendly country.

On November 26, the people of the PAD movement in Thailand decided to hold over 300.000 foreigners hostage by refusing them to leave the country through main-port Bangkok.

I consider this a terrorist act and believe that Thailand is fully entitled to stay on the Dangerous Countries list until democracy has been fully restored and aggressive movements like PAD end all their activities.

Why such a strong statement?

Because my wife and my friends are being held there against their will after their holidays and with them many, many others.

Do not visit Thailand!

Beware! Travel at your own risk

On the other hand looking at the List above a fortnights holiday in the Gaza Strip might be right up their street....... :D .....hiv they got pubs over there pet.....
