Minere For Cats?

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a leukemia + cat who is doing very well now.. (have posted here when he was injured and sick).

He drinks a lot of water as he is Leuk+ and mainly eats dry kibble (science diet) and i like to mix in a little mineral water too with the regular water.. not sure if it is well water or what.?

My friend said her vet told her not to give the cats mineral water.

howwever i have seen my cat recently licking concrete and eating dirt. I know Anemia can be the reason since he is + . also hewas ONLY drinking water off the bathroom floor before, now the bowl is bathroom and that seemed to do the trick

So is minereal water ok for the cats? If it is diluted?

Imagine it is better then soap residue from the shower tiles..

Thanks!

I won't give any of my cats water from our well, too much calcium which can lead to lower urinary tract infections.

They have the best drinking water I can find which in Pattaya is Amtech reverse osmosis.

I could be wrong but I can see no reason not to give them mineral water, it's just the calcium that is not good for them.

As a side note I believe dry food given to the exclusion of other food is dangerous to cats, don't care who makes it and what they claim it can do, the truth is it does not do what is claimed, plus it's it's dry and just very bad for them.

Best thing to do for cats health is give them water orally by a plastic syringe BEFORE and AFTER food. Failing that get them used to cooked rice with fish and biscuits in it, steamed rice has a good quantity of water in it which they need but most do not drink readily.

I'm not sure of the dietary water needs of cats (my 7 cats drink plain tap water, which I only tested for chlorine levels, which are non-existent).

I know for humans that RO treated water in itself is not harmful, but in the long run it drains the body of minerals, so unless you're eating a properly balanced diet (which very few Thailand based farangs seem to do) you can end up with deficiency in some needed minerals.

Basically RO treated water contains nothing at all apart from pure H2O!

my 7 cats drink plain tap water,

Only 7 !!! I got Nine :o
