Sel
Can you use your ABTC at land borders? If you have, could you list the border crossing(s) where you have used it and indicate whether it was accepted outright or if the immigration official had no idea what it was. thanks

I have never used my card at a land crossing, but i haven't been over a land crossing for a long time.
ubonjoe
There was a previous topic asking the same question and the answer was yes. Topic: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Apec-Card-La...tml&hl=apec

Anyway, from personal experience at 2 land borders, there is no need to worry. Guaranteed someone will know about it ( e.g. the supervising officer at least). Depending which border- yes you may encounter a brief delay but relax you will get your ninety-day stamp eventually ( provided of course your card is unexpired and matches your passport number )
skippybangkok
I travel in APEC a bit..... getting VISA's is time consuming. If i.e. travel to Vietnam, do u still need a visa if you have APEC card ?
tangoll
On the back of the APEC card is a list of countries that have pre-approved your visa for travel to that country. On my card, VN is not listed, so I would need a normal visa to go to VN. I haven't checked whether VN is one of the participating countries in this scheme. skippybangkok
Thanks. I saw VN on th list of countries......... would save time and money, pay A$200 and no need to apply for visa's for 3 years........
midas
Thanks. I saw VN on th list of countries......... would save time and money, pay A$200 and no need to apply for visa's for 3 years........ NO ! If your card doesn't show VN on the back it means you haven't been pre-cleared for that economy. It would just mean applying for a new card now because they don't add on economies to existing unexpired cards. VN is certainly on the list and even China! And I have to say the money and time savings and faster processing on arrival in Hanoi is fantastic definately get an ABTC !!
