One-Two-Go to start daily Trang service next month

BANGKOK: -- One-Two-Go Airlines will start a daily service from Bangkok to Trang on March 8 as it slowly revives its domestic network after getting back its flying licence, suspended late last year for safety and operational deficiencies.

Bangkok-Trang will be the airline's fifth route after Bangkok-Chiang Rai, which the privately-owned budget carrier began to serve with two flights a week on Feb 15, according to industry sources.

One-Two-Go quietly relaunched itself on Dec 5, the day after thousands of People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) activists pulled out from Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports, which they had besieged from Nov 25 to Dec 4.

The PAD members demanded the removal of the Somchai Wongsawat administration, which they accused of being a proxy for fugitive former premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

The protesters dispersed after a court verdict brought down the government.

The relaunch of One-Two-Go came after it passed a series of rigorous audits, conducted over five months by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), of various aspects including safety, quality assurance systems and organisational structure.

The airline suffered one of Thailand's worst air crashes when an MD-82 jetliner came down in strong winds and heavy rain after attempting to land at Phuket International Airport on Sept 16, 2007, leaving 89 dead and 41 injured.

The incident gave the airline a poor safety image and subjected it to a wave of litigation in US courts by relatives of victims.

The three other routes which One-Two-Go has been operating from its Don Mueang airport base are to Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Phuket.

The airline continues to use its fleet of ageing MD-80 series jetliners.

To attract passengers, the airline is offering a promotional fare of only 999 baht, excluding airport tax of 100 baht, for one-way flights to Trang.

One-Two-Go will be the second airline to serve the small Trang airport, along with Nok Airlines.

Firefly, the budget subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, plans to fly to the southern Thai province in its summer programme that begins on March 28.

Somebody still wants to fly with them ?! :-)
Obviously not, this thread didn't stir any interest seeing yours is the first and only response since February.

Sorry, but I personally don't want to fly on Want-To-Die Airways any time soon. I came here to Thailand to live. 90 people, mostly falangs, died in that crash in Phuket and I don't want to make a contribution to the next mortality statistic of this airline.

Unfortunately there are many people out there who will book by price alone.

The airline was only removed from the EU unsafe airline blacklist because the "Thai avaition authority" deemed it safe.. Oh well it must be safe if they say so hahahaha. TOTALLY UNSAFE
