Installing Thai Input For Netbook (xp Os)

Featured Replies

I'm about to purchase a netbook from overseas. That means it will not come with the thai language inside it. Can someone help advise me on whether I can install a thai language pack for either the HP Mini 1000 or the Asus Eee PC 901?

I'd like to do it before bringing it back to Thailand, so I'd need an online way to do it. If this is possible.

Many thanks!

Buy HP 2140 if it is available in your location. This is a good unit with very positive reviews from the current users.

If you just want to type in Thai, just install the Thai Character set and Keyboard (Kedmanee). If you want to have the Layout of windows in Thai, than you need to install an language pack which you need to purchase from MS. Only Vista Ultimate or the Thai editions of Windows are coming with full Thai language.

Cheers

I bought a genuine MS Xp home in Thailand and it came with another disk all in thai that you installed after in the XP disk. that gave you all Thai, And could switch to either

You're right!

But there is an disadvantage: after installing that CD, everything changes to Thai and to roll back that, you'll need quite some knowledge about Windows!

If the OP just want to type in Thai than the best is just to install the Character set and the corresponding keyboard. Easy and no hassle with to change back a whole layout!

To do that is easy but you'll need the Windows CD. Go to the Control Panel ->Regional and Language Option and enable the Thai Language plus add the Thai Keyboard (Kedmanee) to the available keyboard('s)! Than follow the screen instruction.

A matter of a few minutes and all is done.

Cheers.

hi all,

thanks for the replies and my apologies for the delay in responding. yes, i only need to be able to type in thai but would like to have everything else in english. i'm not familiar with the XP platform, and was hence unaware that the setting was in there.

thanks again!!

ps. i'm looking at getting an 8.9" netbook, hence did not consider the better models (which are all 10")
