Dtac Mobile Internet Pricing, Please Explain This -->

Featured Replies

Hi,

I will be in Thailand for a couple of weeks and I am trying to choose a mobile internet provider.

On the following link

w w w.happy.co.th/en/low/17_service_mobile_internet02.php

I don't understand the meaning of "monthly package".

What is the difference between a monthly package and a package valid for 30 days ?

Like what is the difference between :

"6 Hours package (Per Month) for 53.50 Baht"

and

"5 hours Package (valid for 30 days) 53.50 Baht"

Thanks for your help.

Eric

Usually you subscribe for ongoing monthly package meaning you pay the price and get this 6 hours data connection for every calendar month or montly invoicing period. Meaning they invoice you every month as long as you want to discontinue your subscribsion.

Valid for 30 days then is one time deal meaning you pay the price and get 5 hours of time that you can use within 30 days of purchase.

Does this make any sense ?

DTAC has a 40-hour package promotion that goes for just a little over B100. It has a one month validity. I think that this is cheaper than the above mentioned. Call the customer service for more details.

Edit: This is actually the B105.93 package. They double the hours upon payment.

So there is little difference between a monthly package (which has a one month validity and does not need to be renewed) and a hourly package valid for 30 days ?

I think you'll find that for ongoing monthly packages you have to be a resident with a registered address so that they can post a monthly bill to you. As a short-term tourist it would probably be difficult to satisfy this requirement. I've also heard that the ongoing monthly packages are hard to stop. I'm in Chiangrai and was told that to cancel I would have to physically travel to a regional centre in Chiangmai and present some documentary proof in person before I could cancel completely. If you just fail to pay your monthly bill without going through the proper cancellation procedure, you're still liable for that and any subsequent monthly bills they keep sending.
