Safari 4 Browser

Featured Replies

Well heard about the release of Safari 4 beta and hit a link to look at it... wow its beautiful. I currently use Firefox, well I DID, now Im totally going to use Safari only. Besides having cover flow for you bookmarks that shows a screen shot of each bookmark you flip through like the Iphone and I assume mac programs it also has a favorites page that has screen shots of your top hit pages that is really handy and looks fantastic. I use windows vista btw but it also works on xp.

Any of you know anything bad about it yet because it seems great.

I'm using XP Pro and Hotmail doesn't work. It opens but I can't retrieve pages.

You mean you cant use hotmail with Safari?

You mean you cant use hotmail with Safari?

That's correct. Opera, Chrome, Firefox and IE 8 all work fine.

Just looked at it and google chrome browser said this file could cause problems with your pc.Maybe chrome do not want me to use it,but i am not taking the risk even though Safari looks good

From testing a bit around with Safari 4 I've to admit that Google Chrome is in many instances more easy to use.

Ok Safari looks very nice but is that important? I need to work and that as efficient as possible without hassle and that is it! And according to the speed, sometimes have to push reload several times before the site is loaded and others.

So, final, it didn't works for ME.

Cheers.

After using it for about 24 hours I can see why you would say that Reimar. By default there is no progress bar and no indication whatsoever of a page being loaded, which lead me to hit reload too, but then I found the option for the bottom indication bar and realised it was always loading like it should be. After testing it next to mozzilla the speed is pretty much the same, sometimes safari seems faster and real testers online say it is definately faster. I find safari super easy to use and beautiful.

I got as far as download page - it's GREY again. It might be better than the previous version but I doubt it has the same functionality as FF/Opera. Those can be configured in any way you want, including shortcut keys and ad blocking, not to mention color schemes, skins, and addons/widgets.

In Opera I can edit even my right-click menu, for christsakes, and don't forget porn mode on IE or Google Chrome.

As for speed - every browser slows down with use, they old build up databases, store links and history and so on. Difference in three milliseconds doesn't matter for everyday user. They are all fast enough.

Let the Apple spice up competition by all means, I'd like to see separate processes for each tab as in Google Chrome, for example, but it's not the "see the web in whole new way" thing. Just another browser.
