Hello,

Using AIS and a Nokia 6630, I can get download speed of around 30 KBps.

I am surprised, I have also AIS and nokia 6600 but never join 30 kb as gsm communications are 9.600 Kb maxi per second...so what's up?

AIS with Samsung Soul. I get 115.2 Kbps.

GSM dial-up connections indeed are at a max of 9,600 bps (9 kbps or a tad over 1 kBps).

However, this kind of connection is hardly ever used anymore, as the GSM network supports GPRS, or the faster Edge system.

GPRS (as normally indicated by a G in your phone's display) will run at up to around 60 kbps (or about 7 kBps).

The faster Edge network (usually indicated by an E in your phone's display) ill run up to 220 kbps (27 kBps)

Both GPRS and EDGE will degrade in speed as signal strength goes down...

This is the speed between your PC and your phone.

Actually your settings are wrong, as Edge from phone to network is capable of faster internet then your phone is capable of talking to your PC.

115.2 kbps is common when using IR connection between your phone and PC, although IR is capable of faster speeds ig set properly!

Well, I think AIS has rolled out EDGE nationwide. I don't get an E symbol, but the 6630 does have CDMA and a high class (10?) modem. Therefore, I get around 30 kBps download speed. Using bluetooth. On a nearly 6 year old phone. You can get one second-hand for around 3000 BAHT. Oh, and it's the phone the Commissioner uses in the latest Batman movie. :o

Dear I am very sorry but you are wrong, 115.2 kb is what appear on your computer screen when you connect but not the real speed of your connexion Gsm system is Maxi 9.600 b/s, try to download and watch how long it's taking. For example if you download a 1 mo files with how much you say it take less than 10 seconds, but in real you will get the file in about more than 5 minits so means around 3 to 4 Kb/s.

People who are newbie with computing be sure before post please, or not answer... :o it's just a waste of time...

thanks
