1 Camera Or 1 Camcorder?

Featured Replies

I read that when entering Thailand that one can bring in one camera and 5 rolls of film or 1 camcorder with 3 rolls.Duty would be charged for the other?I want to bring in my digital camera and minidisc camcorder so will I have to pay to bring in both? Also would want to bring along my laptop, and how can one secure it in the hotel while out sightseeing?Any hotel suggestions in BKK and Pattaya that are moderately priced and have in-room plug-in PC capability is appreciated.

Camera- I've had two cameras one SLR and one digital plus 20-30 rolls of film with me when entering. Never asked to pay any duties. I don't think you will have a problem there.

Laptop - lock it up in hotel safe or safe deposit box. Do not leave in your room unless you want to see it nicked.

Thanks. It didn't seem to make sense when I read about it.Would seem they would want tourists taking many shots and videos to show back home to make more future tourists visit.I hope they have a big deposit box that can take my Toshiba Satellite with 15" screen.

Hotels should have big enough safe deposit boxes, or a safe that you can store valuables in. I normally store a slr camera with multiple lens w/camera bag, portable dvd player so that gives you an idea on what can fit in a large deposit box. Digital small enough to travel with me everywhere.
